Syria and Germany discuss ways to develop vocational and technical education

Assistant Minister of Education for Educational Affairs, Youssef Anan, discussed today, Sunday, with the head of the German Agency for International Cooperation "GIZ" in Syria, Tania Lohmann, and her accompanying delegation, the status of vocational and technical education in Syria and mechanisms for its development.

The two sides discussed the expected cooperation to develop vocational and technical education in Syria, according to joint plans, benefiting from the experiences and programs offered by the agency.

Anan emphasized the ministry's interest in developing vocational education, the importance of cooperation, and the exchange of technical and artistic experiences with the German government and the "GIZ" agency, contributing to the development of vocational and technical education in Syria.

On her part, Lohmann explained that the purpose of the meeting is to identify priorities for working with the ministry in the coming period regarding this education and mechanisms for its development, through collaboration between German and Syrian experiences and exchanging opinions, noting the support provided by the German government for vocational and technical education in Syria.

The Director of Vocational and Technical Education at the ministry, Mohammed Abdel Hameed, also reviewed the current situation of vocational education, the challenges facing the sector, in addition to the data and statistics related to the number of professions and their distribution across all Syrian provinces.
