Syria and Cyprus discuss ways to cooperate in protecting cultural heritage

The two parties discussed the importance of joint efforts to preserve archaeological and historical sites, exchange experiences in the field of restoration and conservation, as well as the need for coordination in the areas of scientific research and training for specialized national cadres. They emphasized the necessity of having joint archaeological missions and a research center.
The Cypriot Ambassador expressed readiness to support projects aimed at protecting Syrian heritage, emphasizing the importance of international and regional cooperation to ensure the continuity of this valuable heritage for future generations.
In turn, the Director General of Antiquities highlighted the challenges facing Syria in this field, and the need to enhance partnerships with regional countries and the international community to address these challenges and rehabilitate damaged archaeological sites.
