Statement of Activists in Al-Suwayda Welcoming the Entry of Government Forces and Calling for Ceasefire

Activists in Al-Suwayda Governorate welcomed the entry of the Ministry of Interior and Defense forces into the governorate, emphasizing the need to activate state institutions and organize weapons to restore security and stability.
A statement issued by the activists stated: "After the unfortunate events that occurred in Al-Suwayda Governorate in recent days, with a large number of casualties, and in order to stop the bloodshed and restore security and stability in the governorate, we believe that stopping the bloodshed and achieving justice require the state to assert its authority over the governorate through official institutions, especially the security and military institutions".
The statement expressed welcome to the entry of security and military forces to secure the governorate, urging armed factions to cooperate and not resist this step, while emphasizing the importance of "immediate ceasefire until an agreement is reached to ensure the safety of civilians, and to protect lives, honor, and property".
The statement also called for dialogue with the Syrian government to address the repercussions of the events and enhance the role of state institutions with the participation of local cadres.
The activists referred to previous efforts by the Druze spiritual leadership to avoid confrontations, saying: "We have made every effort in the Druze spiritual leadership over the past months to avoid this bloody confrontation for the governorate and the region's residents by activating dialogue with the Syrian state. The agreement of May 1st was a step in the right direction, but there were parties seeking to obstruct and create chaos, and we hold them responsible for the current bloodshed and its social consequences".
This comes after the spiritual leadership of the Unified Druze Muslims welcomed the entry of government forces in a separate statement, calling for disarmament and opening a dialogue with the government to enhance stability.
