Spain expresses deep concern about the escalation in Syria and its repercussions.

Spain has expressed deep concern over the recent escalation in the Syrian situation, warning of its repercussions on the stability of the region as a whole.
This was stated by the Spanish Foreign Minister, Jose Manuel Albares, on the "X" platform, where he emphasized that "Syria's stability is key to peace in the Middle East," stressing "Spain's commitment to the unity and territorial integrity of Syria."
Albares wrote: "I am closely following the violence in Syria. Syrian authorities must ensure the protection of all religious and ethnic communities," considering that "Syria's stability is vital for achieving peace in the region."
Albares also warned of the military escalation, saying: "The new occupation of the Golan Heights and attacks on Syria contribute to further destabilizing the region, making it difficult to achieve a peaceful and comprehensive political transition," calling on Israel to "stop these actions."
The Spanish minister's reaction came following the Israeli airstrike near the presidential palace in Damascus on the early morning of Friday, May 2.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a joint statement describing the attack as a "clear message" to the Syrian transitional authority, affirming that Israel "will not tolerate any threat to the Druze community" and will continue to target what they called "security threats" south of Damascus.
