President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasized that the return of navigation to normal in the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Red Sea is a top regional priority, given the strategic importance of this region for global trade and regional security. This came during his meeting today, Monday, with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Cairo, as part of an official visit aimed at discussing regional developments and enhancing bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Iran. The official spokesperson for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, explained that the meeting addressed the escalating challenges in the region, with the Egyptian President reaffirming Egypt's rejection of expanding the conflict and emphasizing the need to prevent escalation to avoid sliding into a comprehensive regional war, pointing out the importance of the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States. In turn, the Iranian Foreign Minister praised Egypt's pivotal role in supporting regional stability, affirming his country's keenness to continue consultation and coordination with Cairo in the upcoming period. This meeting comes at a time when the region is witnessing intense diplomatic efforts to avoid the outbreak of a wide regional conflict, amidst the complexities in Gaza and the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States.
