For years, there has been a debate between those who prefer showering in the morning to start the day with energy and freshness, and those who see it as a better option in the evening for relaxation before sleep.
But it seems that science has finally settled this debate.

In a report published by the British newspaper Daily Mail, clinical microbiologist at the University of Leicester, Dr. Primrose Freestone, confirmed that showering in the morning is the best for health, and it is the optimal choice for starting a clean and refreshing day.

* Why Is Morning the Best?
Freestone says: "As a microbiologist, I am an advocate for daytime showering".
She explains that showering at the beginning of the day helps the body get rid of dead skin cells, sweat, and bacteria that accumulate during the night.
This not only gives a feeling of cleanliness but also prevents the growth of microbes that may feed on sweat and cause unpleasant odors.

Although there is no strict rule for the frequency of showering, Freestone points out that most dermatologists recommend showering at least every other day, while maintaining general hygiene.

* What about Evening Showering?
Some believe that showering before bed helps in relaxation and getting rid of accumulated sweat and allergens during the day.
Freestone acknowledges this, but warns that these benefits are temporary, as the body continues to sweat during sleep, leading to the re-accumulation of bacteria and odors.

She adds: "Even after showering at night, skin microbes continue to feed on sweat during sleep. By morning, these bacteria may have transferred to the bed sheets".

* Risks of Neglecting Bed Hygiene
Freestone emphasized that dead skin cells shed during sleep can create an ideal environment for dust mite proliferation, increasing the likelihood of allergies and asthma if the bed is not cleaned regularly.

* Recommendations from the Scientist
1 _ Best Time for Showering:
Morning, for clean skin and starting the day with a fresh scent.
2 _ Washing Bedding:
At least once a week to get rid of sweat, dead skin cells, oils, and bacteria.
3 _ Wearing Clean Clothes after morning showering enhances protection against microbes acquired overnight.

Whether you choose to shower in the morning or evening, remember that cleanliness is not limited to your body only, but also extends to your bed sheets.
But if you are looking for the most beneficial option for your overall health and daily cleanliness, science says:
Start your day with a refreshing morning shower!.
