The Chinese online fashion retailer ‘Shein’ is facing a legal crisis that is not new, but dates back to September of last year, when a fine was imposed on ‘Infinite Styles Services Limited’, based in Dublin, which manages the ‘Shein’ website in Europe, following an investigation into ‘environmental misleading’ initiated by the regulatory authority.
In updates on the case today, Monday, the Italian Competition Authority fined ‘Shein’ one million euros ($1.16 million) for the same charge.
The regulatory authority reported that the ‘claims of environmental sustainability and social responsibility promoted on the ‘Shein’ website: “were sometimes vague and general and/or exaggerated, and in other cases were omitted or misleading.”
