Russian Media: Al-Shaibani Visits Moscow

Russian media reported that the Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani will visit Moscow in the coming hours.

Al-Shaibani is expected to meet with several Russian officials during his visit.

Both the Russian and Syrian sides expressed their desire to continue cooperation and develop their longstanding relations following the fall of the former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime.

After the fall of Assad's regime, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that "Assad left Syria and issued orders for a peaceful transfer of power," indicating that Assad and his family arrived in Moscow and that "Russia granted them asylum for humanitarian reasons."

The statement mentioned that Assad "negotiated with parties in the armed conflict in Syria," and "the negotiations resulted in Assad peacefully handing over power, resigning from his position, and leaving the country." The statement added that "Russia was not a party to these negotiations."
