Syrian director Amro Ali achieved a new milestone by winning the Omani Peace Award for Best Arab Film at the ninth edition of the Return International Film Festival in Deir al-Balah, Gaza, under the theme "Awaiting Return... Return" with his short film "Revival." This is the film's third award, following last year's wins for Best Director and Best Actress for Ruba Al-Halabi at the Heliopolis Short Film Festival. The film takes place in a hospital, where two brothers face an internal conflict that significantly affects their mother's health, who teeters between life and death. Starring Hassan Awiti, Yazan Khalil, Mustafa Al-Mustafa, Juliette Khoury, and Ruba Al-Halabi. Director Amro Ali, son of the late director Hatem Ali, graduated from the High Institute of Cinema in Cairo in 2016 and has won several international awards, including Best Short Film at the Malmo Arab Film Festival and Rotterdam Arab Film Festival for his film "Coma." Additionally, he co-directed segments of the 15th season of the series "Spotlight." The Return Film Festival, held annually in Gaza coinciding with the Palestinian Nakba anniversary, reaffirms the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their occupied lands, with the participation of directors and artists from various Arab and foreign countries. Amro Ali, who began his career in cinema by writing screenplays and directing narrative and short documentary films, has established himself as one of the prominent young directors in the Arab world, with several award-winning works.
