UNHCR: Significant Increase in Syrian Refugees Returning from Jordan to Their Country

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) revealed that more than 15,000 registered Syrian refugees returned to Syria last May, marking a 45% increase compared to April, which saw the return of about 10,500 refugees.
According to a report published by the Jordanian channel "Al Mamlaka" on its website, the total number of returnees from Jordan to Syria since December 8th until the end of May reached 75,500 refugees.
The UNHCR confirmed in its report that it continues to provide support to refugees willing to return voluntarily. During May, it organized the transfer of thousands of refugees from host communities and camps to Syria, noting a significant increase in these numbers compared to the previous month.
To ensure voluntary and informed decision-making, the UNHCR conducted personal interviews with those willing to return, providing them with information about available services in the return areas, in coordination with the UNHCR office in Damascus.
