Syrian businessman Rami Makhlouf, cousin of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, commented today, Sunday, March 9, on the events in the Syrian coastal region, launching a scathing attack on Brigadier Ghayath Dalla, one of the leaders of the Fourth Division, whom he accused of being responsible for the deteriorating situation in the area.

Makhlouf stated in a post on his Facebook page: "I have returned, and the return is triumphant," affirming his determination to reinstate all civilians and military personnel who were dismissed from their positions, promising that they "will return honored, respected, safe, and victorious."

The Syrian businessman also heavily criticized the officers of the Fourth Division, especially Brigadier Ghayath Dalla, whom he accused of being behind the recent clashes with the new security forces.

Makhlouf pointed to statistics showing 6,000 dead and 13,000 wounded in the recent events, confirming that "entire families were exterminated with their women and children," mentioning bodies strewn in the streets and incidents of "organ theft," describing the scenes as "horrifying massacres and deliberate atrocities."

Makhlouf questioned: "What have you done to our people, Fourth Division officers, with the head of military security, and with some civilians around you? Have you traded in the blood of our people?" He also criticized the violent reactions as expected after what happened, and condemned the exploitation of civilians who lost their jobs, saying: "You deceived them into believing that you had control over the area and needed them to guard it."

Addressing the officers of the Fourth Division, Makhlouf said: "You had a complete arsenal, from the Fourth Division and the Republican Guard, with numerous units numbering tens of thousands, along with planes, tanks, and ammunition, and you abandoned all of it and fled," questioning the logic of their attempt to reclaim the country after losing it.

He also directed harsh criticism at former President Bashar al-Assad, saying: "Have you not had enough, O fugitive president, with what you have previously done in destroying the country, dividing it, destroying its army and economy, starving its people, and above all fleeing with money that if distributed to the people, there would be no hungry or poor?"

Makhlouf addressed the people of the coast, saying: "I warned everyone against any foolish move that could lead the sect to slaughter and torture. Our people and our beloved ones, we are your sacrifice, and our blood is shed for you. We feel your suffering, pain, and loss of your loved ones in the worst ways of killing. We have made great efforts to stop these massacres by any means necessary."

The Syrian businessman concluded by saying: "Now, most importantly, we are working seriously and at the highest level of coordination to find radical solutions to prevent the recurrence of such events, ensure security and safety for all our people in these areas, and prevent all these violations and abuses."
