Commander of SDF: Saudi Arabia Qualified to Mediate Between Us and Damascus, Meeting with Al-Shar'a 'Positive'

Mazloum Abdi, commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), affirmed that communication with the Syrian government is "open daily," pointing to an agreement between the two parties on "the unity of Syria with one army and one flag." This came in an exclusive interview with Al-Arabiya and Al-Hadath channels.
Abdi expressed confidence in Saudi Arabia's ability to play a "positive role" as a mediator in negotiations with Damascus, saying: "Saudi Arabia can play a positive role if it enters as a mediator," praising its previous role in "lifting sanctions on Syria." He also denied any Turkish intervention in this process.
Regarding his meeting with Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shar'a, Abdi described it as "positive," while at the same time denying "receiving any offer from the Syrian government to take on a new position."
The SDF commander explained that some sovereign institutions "must remain centralized in Damascus," emphasizing that Syria "will have one army, not two armies within military centralization."
On the other hand, Abdi pointed out the Kurdish groups' agreement with the SDF's proposals, expressing at the same time "concern about integration into the Syrian army without constitutional guarantees."
