Head of Syrian Chambers of Commerce Union discusses cooperation with German agency "GIZ"

Today, Sunday, the President of the Syrian Chambers of Commerce Union, Alaa Omar Al-Ali, discussed with a delegation from the German Agency for International Cooperation "GIZ" led by Julia Becker, ways and mechanisms to enhance cooperation between the two sides.
During the meeting held today at the headquarters of the Chambers of Commerce Union in Damascus, the President of the Union highlighted the most important steps taken by the Chambers Union after the fall of the former regime, in terms of organizing its relationship with the chambers, supervising them, and cooperation between the public and private sectors, restructuring it with the aim of enhancing its role in shaping policies that align with the economic developments supporting development plans, the business community, and productive projects, in addition to the Union's role in investment projects.
The discussions also addressed good governance, the reality of vocational education and its development in Syria, and the contribution and role of the German agency in supporting it by increasing qualification and training, diversifying specialties, and developing skills among youth, preparing them to enter the job market efficiently.
The two sides also reviewed the trade and economic relations and areas of cooperation between businessmen and investors, and ways to enhance mechanisms of cooperation in various vital sectors.
Both sides emphasized the importance of the private sector as an active partner in supporting the economy and development, its contribution to achieving economic growth, and stressed the importance of promoting investment and trade opportunities in Syria.
