Partial Power Outage in the Southern Region Due to Bad Weather and Technical Failures

Engineer Khaled Abu Di, the director of the General Authority for Electricity Transmission and Distribution, announced a partial blackout in the electrical current in the southern region due to several factors, most notably bad weather and faults in high voltage lines.
Abu Di explained in a statement to the "SANA" agency that "high humidity and weather fluctuations caused the disconnection of all high voltage lines in the central region, leading to the shutdown of generating units at the Jandar power station, and splitting the network into two separate networks."
He also pointed out that "a sudden fault occurred in the 230 kV high voltage line (Deir Ali - Al-Kisweh), causing a significant shock to the southern network, resulting in the shutdown of all generating units at the (Al-Nasiriya, Tishreen, Deir Ali) stations." He added that "the severe heat wave contributed to a decrease in the efficiency of the generating units, while the demand for electrical energy witnessed a noticeable increase."
On another note, Abu Di confirmed that "the main control center teams are currently working on gradually restarting the generating units," noting that "the authority is making intensive efforts to restore electrical current stability in all areas as soon as possible."
