Hamas, the Islamic resistance movement, announced today, Sunday, the official killing of its military leader in the Gaza Strip, Mohammed Al-Sinwar, after months of unconfirmed news about his death in an Israeli airstrike last May.
In a brief statement, the movement published a photo of Mohammed Al-Sinwar alongside several of its senior leaders who were killed in recent confrontations, describing them as "the pure martyr leaders," without providing additional details about the circumstances of his death or his location.
It is noteworthy that Mohammed Al-Sinwar is the younger brother of Yahya Al-Sinwar, a prominent leader in Hamas who led the major attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, before he was also killed in an Israeli operation about a year later.
After his brother's death, Mohammed quickly rose within the leadership structure of the movement, taking on central roles in the military wing.
With the confirmation of his death, attention now turns to Ezzedin Al-Haddad, his close aide, who is currently overseeing military operations in northern Gaza, where he is expected to take full command of Hamas's armed wing in the sector.
This development comes at a time when Israel continues to target Hamas leaders, as Israeli sources recently indicated a new operation against a prominent figure, with possible hints towards the military spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades "Abu Ubaida."
