Netanyahu: We will not allow a return to a situation where Lebanon establishes itself again in Syria

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the aim of the airstrikes carried out by the Israeli army on the province of Al-Suwayda in southwest Syria on Tuesday morning is to "preserve southwest Syria as a demilitarized zone and protect the Druze population".
This came in a speech by Netanyahu during his inspection of the "Hashmonaim" Infantry Brigade in central Israel, designated to accommodate soldiers from the ultra-Orthodox community, broadcast by his media office on the "X" platform.
Netanyahu said, "We have been operating in Syria since the morning and we are committed to preserving southwest Syria as a demilitarized zone on the Israeli border".
He added, "We will not allow a return to a situation where Lebanon establishes itself again in Syria", in reference to Hezbollah.
He continued, "We are committed to protecting the Druze population and we do so through strong operations, and I hope we do not have to act further".
