Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz have instructed the Israeli army to attack Syrian army forces and weapons in Sweida.

Netanyahu and Katz said in a joint statement: "We have instructed the Israeli Defense Forces to attack the regime's forces and weapons that have been brought into the Sweida area in Syria immediately, in order to carry out its operations against the Druze, which contradicts the disarmament policy that has been adopted".
The statement added, "Israel is committed to preventing harm to the Druze in Syria, based on the deep brotherly alliance with our Druze citizens in Israel".
Netanyahu and Katz stated in the statement: "We are working to prevent the Syrian regime from targeting the Druze and ensuring the disarmament of the area adjacent to our borders".

The official Syrian news agency SANA reported that the Israeli aircraft targeted the city of Sweida on Tuesday, coinciding with the entry of government forces into it. SANA said, "Israeli occupation aircraft target the city of Sweida," which is predominantly Druze in southern Syria.

Israel had confirmed on Monday that it destroyed Syrian tanks in the tension area in Sweida, while warning against targeting the Druze in Syria.
