Nawaf Salam reaffirms Lebanese cooperation with Syria on several issues

Nawaf Salam, the Prime Minister of Lebanon, reiterated today the cooperation with Syria on several issues, especially border control between the two countries and the dignified return of Syrian refugees.
In a speech delivered during a meeting at the Economic, Social and Environmental Council in Beirut and reported by the Lebanese National News Agency, Salam said: The government has initiated direct cooperation with the Syrian side to control the borders, combat smuggling, and ensure the safe and dignified return of Syrian refugees, recalling in this regard his visit to Damascus on the fourteenth of last April, and his meeting with President Ahmed Al-Shar'a and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Al-Shibani.
Separately, Salam considered that Lebanon is going through a delicate phase amid regional transformations, and Lebanon cannot remain on the sidelines, emphasizing that national development cannot be achieved without financial and economic stability.
