A senior official in NATO stated, "The future of the relationship with Syria depends on the political transformations and reforms in the country." The official expressed NATO's readiness to work in Syria in areas where assistance may be needed. According to Jordanian channel "Al-Mamlaka," the official mentioned that NATO currently has no plans to establish relations with the new Syria post the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime, emphasizing that this greatly depends on the political developments in the country in the coming years. If Syria continues taking the right and comprehensive steps in reforms, interacts with the international community, and the Syrian political system evolves towards more inclusivity, cooperation with Syria in the future might be considered. NATO would be prepared to work with Syria in areas requiring assistance if such a transformation occurs, although it is not realistic at present but not ruled out in the future, subject to evolving events. The official in NATO pointed out that although there are no current plans, necessary political changes could open up possibilities for further cooperation in the future. These statements come ahead of a NATO foreign ministers meeting scheduled for Thursday, April 3, in Brussels, amid escalating tensions regarding ceasefire efforts in Ukraine.
