Moscow anticipates the event .. Fear of obstructing the summit between Putin and Trump

As the world eagerly awaits the historic meeting between the Russian and American leaders, Kirill Dmitriev, the special representative of the Russian president for economic cooperation with foreign countries, expressed his belief that some countries seeking to prolong the Ukrainian crisis may attempt to obstruct the anticipated summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American President Donald Trump.
Dmitriev, who also serves as the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, pointed out that these countries may resort to provocations and misleading media campaigns in order to disrupt the important meeting.
Dmitriev wrote on his official channel on "Telegram": "Some countries that prefer the continuation of the conflict are expected to carry out misleading attempts and major provocations to obstruct the planned meeting between Presidents Putin and Trump".
Earlier on Saturday, American President Donald Trump announced that the awaited meeting with the Russian president will take place on Friday, August 15, 2025, in the state of Alaska, USA. Trump said: "European leaders aspire to peace, and I believe President Putin wants that too, as does Ukrainian President Zelensky, and my intuition tells me we may be on the brink of an opportunity for peace".
Trump revealed that the proposed agreement to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine may involve land exchanges, but he did not disclose further details. He added in this context that Ukrainian President Zelensky should be prepared to sign a potential agreement to settle the conflict.
