More than 150 dead... Nigeria announces a rise in the catastrophic toll of floods.

The death toll from the floods that hit the town of Mokwa in central Nigeria earlier this week has risen to over 150.
Ibrahim Odoo Al-Husseini, the spokesperson for the Emergency Management Agency, stated that the floods have displaced more than 3,000 people, destroyed 265 homes, and washed away two bridges.
Al-Husseini warned of the possibility of an increase in the number of casualties as the strong Niger River carries the bodies of the dead.
President Bola Tinubu confirmed that search and rescue operations are ongoing, with security forces providing assistance in responding to the disaster. In a post on social media, he added that "relief materials and temporary shelter assistance are being deployed without delay" in Mokwa, which was hit by heavy rains late Wednesday and into Thursday morning.
