Ministry of Energy: Electricity Generation Using Azerbaijani Gas to Begin Next Week

According to the Ministry of Energy, Al-Suleiman said: "Since the start of pumping Azerbaijani gas into Syria, the pipelines have been filled with gas today, which has led to an increase in pressure within the network and the incoming quantities reaching 2 million cubic meters daily during this preliminary phase."
He confirmed the readiness of the infrastructure to receive gas efficiently, in preparation for the actual generation to begin at the power plants.
He added: "It is expected that the gas will reach the Jandar, Tishreen, and Nasiriyah stations in the central region tomorrow, where the generation units will gradually start coming into service."
According to Al-Suleiman, gas will be relied upon as the main source of energy, which will lead to electricity production ranging between 700 to 800 megawatts daily, according to the approved operational plan.
It is noteworthy that Syria and Azerbaijan signed a memorandum of understanding on July 12, which includes cooperation and coordination in the fields of energy and the supply of natural gas to Syria via Turkey.
