In the context of supporting food security and improving the living conditions of citizens, the Ministry of Economy and Industry has signed a cooperation agreement with the World Food Program (WFP) aimed at supporting bread production in several Syrian governorates by providing subsidized flour to bakeries.
According to the official page of the Ministry of Economy and Industry, the agreement in its first phase includes the governorates of Daraa, Latakia, Tartous, Aleppo, Hama, and Homs, benefiting 64 bakeries that will receive subsidized flour.
The implementation of the first phase of the agreement actually began in Daraa governorate on May 29, 2025, with additional governorates to be included in the second phase later, following a comprehensive gradual plan.
The agreement entails providing 45,000 tons of flour by the end of 2025, aiming to produce bread at subsidized prices and provide the essential commodity to approximately two million Syrian citizens in the targeted governorates.
This agreement is one of the joint initiatives between Syrian government entities and international organizations to enhance the state's capacity to secure essential commodities and assist families in facing current economic challenges.
