Energy Minister: Syria to Begin Receiving 3.4 Million Cubic Meters of Azerbaijani Gas via Turkey Starting August 2

The Syrian Energy Minister, Engineer Mohammad Bashir, confirmed that Syria will start receiving 3.4 million cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan to Aleppo province via Turkish territories starting from August 2, leading to the generation of around 900 megawatts of electricity. This comes as part of a mutual cooperation aimed at supporting the energy sector in Syria.

The Minister explained in a statement to SANA that this step will contribute to enhancing the stability of the electrical grid, noting that the Syrian government is monitoring the implementation of these measures as part of a national plan to secure energy needs and alleviate burdens on citizens.

On the 12th of this month, Syria and Azerbaijan signed a memorandum of understanding involving cooperation and coordination in the energy sector, natural gas supply to Syria through Turkey, and cooperation and coordination in oil exploration.
