The Syrian Energy Minister, Engineer Mohammad Al-Bashir, said today, despite 14 years of war and destruction, Syria is returning today to shape a bright future for its people. This was during the press conference announcing the launch of the International Exhibition for the Reconstruction of Syria.

Al-Bashir added during the conference: "The deliberate targeting of infrastructure did not weaken the will of the Syrians, and here we are rebuilding what has been destroyed with steady steps. Our faith in Syria drives us today to work and start anew".

The minister confirmed that work is underway to restart power stations and pump water after years of shutdown, as well as reconnecting Syria to the regional power grid to ensure reliable energy sources. In addition, new contracts have been signed to build power generation stations that will enter service within a few years with a huge production capacity.

He continued by saying: "We extend an open invitation to friendly countries and serious companies to be partners in rebuilding the Syrian energy sector".
