Minister of Education Discusses Cooperation in the Education Sector with the European Union Mission to Syria

The Syrian Minister of Education, Dr. Mohammad Abdul Rahman Turko, discussed today, Thursday, with a delegation from the European Union mission led by the Acting Head of the Mission, Mikhail Onmakht, enhancing cooperation and coordination in the education sector.
During the meeting, Minister Turko expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the European Union mission to support the educational process in Syria, noting that the ministry has developed a strategic plan and an emergency response plan to improve the educational situation focusing on four essential elements: the teacher, the student, the curriculum, and school buildings.
Minister Turko pointed out that 7900 schools, representing 40% of the total 19,000 schools in Syria, have been destroyed, and there is an urgent need for rapid restoration to enable schools to fully resume their services.
On their part, the European Union delegation confirmed their readiness to enhance cooperation and communication with the ministry, understand its vision to overcome the challenges facing the education sector, and expressed their willingness to continue supporting the ministry's plan in the field of vocational education training.
