The Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the United Nations, Ambassador Barbara Woodward, praised the political transition steps in Syria and called for ensuring justice and transparency for the victims.

Woodward, in a speech during a meeting of the UN Security Council on Syria yesterday, emphasized that Syria is at a pivotal and fragile moment in its path towards a more stable and prosperous future, noting that achieving peace and security in it is in the interest of Syrians and the entire region.

She mentioned the risks posed by the escalation of the crisis in the Middle East, which could have serious repercussions on the security of the region and beyond, including Syria, calling on all parties to avoid any action that contributes to destabilization.
