Lebanese Prime Minister: "We express a desire to hold talks in Syria."

Lebanese Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, expressed his desire to visit the Syrian capital, Damascus, to enhance cooperation between the two countries during a phone call with Syrian President for the transitional phase, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, on Wednesday, April 2nd. According to a statement from the Syrian Presidency published on its official page, the call discussed ways to strengthen relations between the two countries in various aspects. Mikati also congratulated President Al-Sharaa on the formation of the new Syrian government, hoping it would contribute to progress, prosperity, and enhancing the development and cooperation between the two countries. Lebanese President, Michel Aoun, stated that relations between Lebanon and Syria are beginning to take a positive direction, adding that his administration will take steps to develop relations and discuss common issues, including border demarcation and transit. It is worth mentioning that the new Syrian administration and the Lebanese government have been in communication since the early days after the fall of the previous regime, with the first official Lebanese visit to Syria taking place on January 11th, represented by former Lebanese Prime Minister, Najib Mikati.
