Second Phase of Joint Security Campaign Launched in Deir ez-Zor Targeting "Brigade 47"

The Internal Security Forces Command in Deir ez-Zor province, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, began today, Sunday, July 6, the implementation of the second phase of its joint security campaign, focusing on targeting elements of "Brigade 47" affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, as well as remnants of the former regime and lawless elements in the areas of Sukkariyah and Hamdan in the city of Al-Bukamal.
Colonel Darrar Al-Shamlan, the Internal Security Commander in Deir ez-Zor, reported that this phase builds on the successes of the previous security campaign in the Al-Mayadin area, indicating that the security forces rely on accurate information about the involvement of these elements in violations including attacks on civilians, obstructing security patrols, refusing to comply with settlement procedures, and illegally possessing weapons.
Al-Shamlan emphasized that the campaign will not tolerate any attempts to impose parallel authorities, stating: "There is no place for parallel authority, and there will be no leniency with any party trying to impose itself on the residents outside the framework of the law". He also affirmed the continuation of operations until achieving all objectives aimed at restoring order, urging citizens to cooperate with the security forces in this "battle for justice and stability".
In a related context, the Internal Security Command revealed the implementation of a series of field operations in the Sukkariyah and Hamdan areas, resulting in the arrest of several wanted individuals and the seizure of violations related to weapon possession and attacks on civilians. It also announced the expansion of the campaign to include the entire city of Al-Bukamal, with the aim of targeting arms dealers, drug traffickers, and armed gangs threatening public security.
On another front, the Anti-Drug Administration, in cooperation with the Internal Security, launched a new security campaign targeting drug dealers and manufacturers in the eastern region, as part of a national strategy to combat this scourge. Brigadier General Khaled Eid, the director of the administration, affirmed the commitment of security entities to continue working "day and night to protect society from the dangers of drugs and preserve the country's future".
The Internal Security Command is working to enhance its intelligence and field presence in border areas, in cooperation with judicial and military authorities, to prevent them from becoming centers of organized crime, and to restore state control over the entire Syrian geography. These campaigns are part of ongoing efforts to enhance security and stability in the eastern regions experiencing active smuggling networks across borders.
