Spanish media reports indicated today, Sunday, that the Spanish league "La Liga" is considering a historic decision to move one of the tournament's matches to be played outside the country.
According to the Spanish newspaper "AS", the board of the Spanish Football Federation will consider, on Monday, submitting a request to the UEFA to move the Villarreal vs. Barcelona match, part of the 17th round of La Liga, to be played at the "Hard Rock" stadium in Miami, USA, on December 20.
"AS" added that this is the first step to obtain the approval of FIFA to start preparations for holding a match from national leagues on international soil.
Holding a match from La Liga in Miami has been a long-standing dream for Javier Tebas, the president of La Liga, who has previously stated to Spanish media his intention to achieve this goal.
If UEFA agrees, followed by FIFA's approval, the Villarreal vs. Barcelona match will take place in Miami instead of at "Camp Nou".
If this decision is adopted, it will be the first match in the history of La Liga to be held outside Spanish territory, according to the newspaper "Sport".
