A child was killed and 4 others, including children and a woman, were injured in an armed attack targeting a gathering of tents inhabited by displaced persons near the Tha'lah factories in the western countryside of As-Suwayda on Sunday, March 2.
According to "As-Suwayda 24" network, local sources reported that the incident started due to a dispute over grazing rights, where one person was assaulted by a group believed to be residents of the camp. Consequently, the relatives of the assaulted man attacked the camp using firearms, resulting in intense shooting towards the tents, leading to casualties.
The attack resulted in the death of the child Wael Ibrahim Al-Jasem (10 years old), the injury of the child Ahmed Naji Al-Khalil (9 years old), and the child Malek Ibrahim Al-Khalil (5 years old) who sustained a hip injury, in addition to an injured woman, all from Al-Hasakah Governorate; the injured were transported to the hospital for treatment.
The incident sparked outrage on social media, with activists strongly condemning what they described as a "heinous crime," calling for an urgent investigation and accountability of those responsible for the attack, emphasizing the need to prevent the recurrence of such events in the future.
