The border guard forces in the eastern military region affiliated with the Jordanian Armed Forces - the Arab Army, managed to foil an attempt to infiltrate and smuggle a large quantity of drugs across the Syrian border early Tuesday, July 15.

According to a responsible military source in the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces, the forces "spotted a group of smugglers attempting to cross the border illegally", noting that "quick reaction patrols were immediately deployed and rules of engagement were applied, leading the smugglers to retreat into Syrian territory".

The source added that subsequent inspection operations resulted in "seizing large quantities of drugs", with the confiscated items being transferred to the relevant authorities for necessary investigations.

The source concluded by affirming that the Jordanian Armed Forces continue their work "vigorously and decisively" to confront any attempts of infiltration or smuggling, "in order to preserve the security and stability of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan".
