Governor of Tartous, Mr. Ahmed Al-Shami, received the Italian Ambassador to Syria, Stefano Raffaniani, in a meeting dedicated to discussing the bilateral relations between Syria and Italy and ways to enhance economic cooperation in light of the positive changes witnessed in the country. During the meeting, Al-Shami presented a detailed overview of the potentials of Tartous province, from its strategic location on the Mediterranean coast, to its rich agricultural resources and diverse tourism assets, in addition to the importance of the Arida border crossing that connects it to Lebanon. The governor also highlighted governmental efforts aimed at improving the investment environment and creating job opportunities for the province's residents. Ambassador Raffaniani expressed his country's desire to strengthen cooperation with Syria, confirming Italy's interest in contributing to projects that support economic and social development in Tartous province. He mentioned a preliminary study regarding the Arida bridge, given its strategic importance in facilitating trade and human movement between Syria and Lebanon. The meeting was attended by several academic and economic figures from both the Syrian and Italian sides, including the Dean of the Architecture Faculty at the University of Venice, as well as the Assistant to the Governor, Mr. Sami Al-Zakh, the Head of Administrative Units, Engineer Abdel Fattah Al-Khatib, and the Director of the Arida border crossing, Emad Ghafir.
