In a controversial development, Israeli journalist Itay Anghel, correspondent for Israeli Channel 12, appeared in Old Damascus, where he posted a picture from there, sparking widespread anger among Syrians.
How did he enter? Who allowed him? And why is there no official response so far?
Anghel not only visited Damascus, but also announced a new documentary film about Syria after the fall of Assad.
The film will be aired next Monday on Channel 12 at 21:30 with Hebrew subtitles, raising questions about how he managed to enter the country and film freely!
Anghel is a journalist and documentary filmmaker known for covering conflict zones around the world. He won the Sokolov Award in 2017, the highest journalism award in Israel, and previously worked on the famous program "Uvda." He studied at the University of Michigan and Tel Aviv University, with over 28,000 followers on social media platforms.
But the biggest question on Syrians' minds now is:
How did this journalist manage to enter Damascus? And who opened the doors for him?!
The matter did not stop at visiting Damascus, as Anghel announced upcoming lectures in Canada and Manhattan on March 8, before moving on to the United States to continue his tour.
Has Syria become an open destination for Israeli journalists?
The Syrian street is in anger, while official silence intensifies the questions.
Will there be an investigation into what happened? Will someone come forward to clarify or justify? Or will it be swept under the rug as if it never happened?
There are many questions, and the surprise is greater, but the most important thing remains:
Who facilitated this journalist's entry into Damascus? And why?
