The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced today, Saturday, August 30, the thwarting of the activities of a sabotage cell that it said was affiliated with the Israeli Mossad, and the arrest of all its members, numbering 8 people, in Khorasan Province.
A statement issued by the Revolutionary Guard stated that "the mission of the cell was to send coordinates of vital and sensitive centers and information about prominent Iranian military figures." The statement added that the cell members were receiving "specialized training online from the Mossad."
The statement revealed that the cell was planning to carry out operations targeting civilian and military officials, with the aim of "destroying important centers" in the city of Mashhad.
The Revolutionary Guard clarified that the arrests came "as a result of precise and continuous intelligence operations carried out by the Revolutionary Guard Intelligence Organization in Razavi Khorasan Province, in coordination with judicial authorities," according to the official text of the statement.
