The advisor to the Iranian leader, Ali Akbar Velayati, said today, Saturday, that his country opposes the Lebanese government's decision to disarm Hezbollah.

In an interview with the "Tasnim" agency, he added, "The Iranian Republic certainly opposes the disarmament of Hezbollah, as it has always supported the Lebanese people and the resistance, and continues to do so."

For its part, the Lebanese Foreign Ministry opposed these statements, and in a statement today, Saturday, it said: "We condemn the statements of the advisor to the Iranian leader, which constitute a blatant and unacceptable interference in our internal affairs."
