The Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned on Thursday the Israeli air and ground aggression on Syria, calling on the international community to take immediate action to stop the attacks. The Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated that Tehran "condemns the Zionist military air and ground aggression on Syria, destroying its civilian, research, scientific, and defense facilities." The statement warned of Israel's exploitation of the situation in Syria to expand its occupation of the region. The spokesperson added that "Israeli attacks on Syria targeted its vital facilities." This statement follows the Israeli airstrikes on Syrian territory on Wednesday, resulting in the death of 9 people and the destruction of Hama military airport, which was hit by more than 14 airstrikes. Israel claimed that its attacks were a response to a threat to Turkey not to build military bases in Syria.
