Iran asserts its right to self-defense and accuses Washington of supporting Israeli aggression.

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ismail Qaani, affirmed that Iran's response to Israeli attacks is considered "a legitimate defense in accordance with international laws and human logic," stating that Tehran will "continue its brave battle with strength."
This came during a press briefing on Monday, June 16, where Qaani accused the United States of providing weapons and equipment used in attacks on Iranian territories, saying: "America does not want to deter Israel."
Qaani also called on the Security Council to condemn the Israeli attack, considering that countries supporting or justifying Israel's attacks are "partners in these crimes."
Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Bazkhian accused the United States of providing "cover for Israeli attacks," while Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described Washington as "complicit in Israel's war on Iran."
These statements come a day after U.S. President Donald Trump's statement denying his country's support for Israel in the recent confrontations, but hinting at the possibility of later intervention by Washington.
It is worth noting that the United States has remained a key ally of Israel for years, with Trump repeatedly emphasizing his commitment to supporting Tel Aviv, despite reports of tension in the relationship between him and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
