Fierce clashes near Al-Bassa prison in Latakia following an attack by remnants of the former regime.

The vicinity of the prison in the town of Al-Basah, near the city of Latakia, witnessed intense clashes early this Tuesday, May 20, following an attack by armed groups affiliated with the "loyalists of the former regime" targeting a security site in the area.
Informed security sources reported that units from "Division 50" under the Ministry of Defense repelled the attack, resulting in one of its members being hit by four bullets, described as in "moderate" condition, and was subsequently transferred to the military hospital for necessary treatment.
Following the attack, security forces conducted an extensive combing operation in the vicinity of the prison and surrounding areas, securing vital points and restoring complete stability to the site.
It is worth mentioning that this attack is part of a series of operations carried out by cells affiliated with the former regime in the Syrian coastal areas, targeting military and security sites repeatedly, often resulting in direct clashes and casualties on both sides.
