Preliminary agreement to calm the situation in the village of Al-Dur in the countryside of Al-Suwayda after fierce clashes.

Local dignitaries and elders managed to reach a preliminary agreement to contain the tension in the village of Ad Dur in the western countryside of As-Suwayda, following armed clashes that resulted in casualties and injuries, according to "As-Suwayda 24" website.

The mediation efforts included Prince Hassan Al-Atarsh, Sheikh Al-Aql Abu Wael Hamoud Al-Hanawi, and Pasha Atef Hanidi, who worked on curbing the escalation that took on a familial nature.

The agreement includes urgent measures, such as calming tensions and organizing the funeral ceremonies of the victims on Wednesday, May 7th, with the parties meeting at 11 a.m. and burial taking place by 1 p.m., while emphasizing the continuation of dialogue to ensure a permanent solution to the crisis.

The village witnessed armed confrontations on Tuesday, May 6th, between two local groups, resulting in the death of Tamam Al-Shaarani (a member of the public security) and Marwan Al-Shaarani (a civilian who tried to mediate), in addition to four others being injured, and houses being damaged due to arson amidst escalating retaliatory acts.

The clashes stemmed from a group of villagers intercepting a car carrying the two young men Majd Hassan Ibrahim and Fares Saqr Mondir, who were released by the public security in Daraa. They were handed over at the administrative border between the two provinces without the security forces entering As-Suwayda. A local group then transported them to the village before the clashes erupted.
