On the sidelines of the 78th session of the World Health Organization in Geneva, Syrian Health Minister Dr. Mosaab Al Ali met with Chris Elias, President of Global Development at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, in a meeting aimed at enhancing cooperation between Syria and the foundation in vital health areas.
During the meeting, prospects for cooperation in various fields were discussed, including combating polio, enhancing epidemiological surveillance systems, supporting child and maternal health and nutrition, all of which are priorities in Syria's efforts to strengthen its healthcare system.
Minister Al Ali expressed his country's openness to fruitful partnerships with the foundation, indicating the Syrian government's readiness to extend an official invitation to Mr. Bill Gates to visit Syria, to closely observe the health efforts and national experience in this field, as well as explore possibilities for direct and sustainable cooperation.
Chris Elias welcomed the Syrian initiative and expressed the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's readiness to deepen cooperation with Syria, supporting efforts to develop the healthcare sector and enhance public health, reaffirming the foundation's commitment to improving health indicators in the most needy regions around the world.
