Implementing the death penalty as a punishment for a Syrian convicted of drug trafficking in Mecca.

Saudi authorities carried out on Sunday, May 4th, the death penalty by beheading against a Syrian resident convicted of smuggling quantities of narcotic amphetamine pills into the Kingdom.
According to the Saudi Press Agency "SPA," the execution was carried out after comprehensive judicial procedures, including the Supreme Court's approval of the verdict, which led to a royal order for its implementation.
As per the Ministry of Interior statement, the accused, named "Ahmed Alaa Al-Din Houri," "attempted to smuggle narcotic amphetamine pills into the Kingdom."
The statement added: "Thanks to God, the security authorities managed to apprehend the mentioned perpetrator, and the investigation revealed his involvement in the crime, leading to his referral to the competent court, which issued a verdict confirming the charges against him and sentencing him to death (by beheading)."
The statement noted that the verdict became final after an appeal and confirmation by the Supreme Court, followed by the royal order for its execution.
The sentence was carried out on Sunday, 11th of Safar, 1446 Hijri, corresponding to May 4th, 2025 Gregorian, in the region of Mecca.
It is worth mentioning that the punitive measures in the Kingdom are applied to specific crimes that pose a threat to society's security and safety, including drug-related crimes.
