In a strange incident that sparked widespread controversy in the Egyptian artistic community in recent days, the artist Ashraf Zaki, head of the actors' syndicate, was surprised by an attempt to scam artists Taysir Fahmi and Ahmed El Saadani using the name of the retired artist Shadia Abdel Hamid.
Ahmed El Saadani received a message via WhatsApp claiming to be from the artist Shadia, asking for a financial assistance due to difficult financial circumstances.
Despite Ahmed El Saadani's willingness to help, his suspicions led him to contact the head of the actors' syndicate, who then directly contacted Shadia, who completely denied any financial request or communication regarding this matter.
The artist Shadia Abdel Hamid revealed in a statement that she did not ask for any financial help from Ahmed El Saadani or others, confirming that someone impersonated her and tried to exploit her name for fraud.
She added that she posted a warning through artists' groups on WhatsApp and her personal Facebook account to alert everyone, only to discover that the artist Taysir Fahmi had fallen victim to the same scammer, as she received similar messages and transferred a sum of money before knowing the truth.
Shadia explained that she will take all legal actions against this person who unlawfully exploited her name, emphasizing that this behavior is unacceptable and does not reflect her character in any way.
It is worth mentioning that Shadia Abdel Hamid, the famous Egyptian artist who is 60 years old, became well-known for her distinctive roles, including the role of "Nabilah" in the series "Women Are Coming".
She retired in 2003, returned in 2008, then disappeared again before coming back in 2016, after wearing the hijab and receiving few acting offers.
