Chairman of the "National Commission for Transitional Justice": Revealing the truth and compensating the victims' damages are pivotal goals in Syria

Abdul Basit Abdul Latif, the chairman of the National Commission for Transitional Justice, confirmed that the path led by the commission aims to achieve a set of goals, which include "revealing the truth about serious violations, accountability and responsibility, and compensating the victims and providing them with reparations," in addition to "working towards achieving national reconciliation and civil peace in the country, alongside institutional reform." This was stated in a statement to the "SANA" agency.
Abdul Latif clarified that the commission is working diligently to carry out this mission, emphasizing that the victims and their families will have a "central role in the transitional justice process." The chairman concluded his statement with a decisive affirmation, saying: "The commission will be the loyal soldiers of this path to achieve all their goals."
It is worth noting that the National Commission for Transitional Justice was established by Republican Decree No. (20) issued on May 17, 2025, to begin its mission of addressing the legacy of violations and moving forward towards reconciliation.
