The Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas" confirmed its readiness to engage with any initiatives or proposals that could lead to a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement from the movement: "Hamas reaffirms its commitment to the agreement announced with the Palestinian factions regarding the mediators' proposal for a ceasefire on August 18, and confirms its openness to any ideas that achieve a comprehensive cessation of aggression, a complete withdrawal of the occupation forces from the strip, and the introduction of humanitarian aid without conditions, in addition to completing a genuine prisoner exchange deal through serious negotiations sponsored by the mediators."
In contrast, the Israeli government insists on its conditions for ending the war, foremost among them the recovery of all prisoners, disarming Hamas and Gaza, and forming a new civilian administration for the strip that does not include the movement or the Palestinian Authority, which is considered the legitimate representative of the Palestinians at the international level.
