Today, Saturday, Lebanon's Mufti Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian arrived in Damascus at the head of a delegation including the muftis of the regions for a visit where he will meet with Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shar'a, according to the "Al-Nashra" news website.

Derian began his visit to Syria by performing prayers at the Great Umayyad Mosque in Damascus, toured the mosque, and visited Mount Qasioun.

The Minister of Awqaf, Mohamed Abu Al-Khair, and Derian emphasized during their meeting the "importance of consultation, cooperation, and coordination between Syrian and Lebanese scholars to play an active role in consolidating identity", as discussions were held on Islamic, national, and common Arab interests.

Derian stressed the "importance of the Islamic role in Lebanon through Dar Al-Fatwa in spreading moderate Islamic thought that respects others, values specificities, and enhances the culture of citizenship and coexistence among different segments of society, especially in the difficult circumstances facing the Arab region".
