Germany calls for restraint and avoiding destabilization in Syria

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas stressed the importance of Syria not becoming a battleground for regional tensions, after Israel carried out airstrikes on Syrian sites under the pretext of protecting Syrian Druze.
He said: "Amid the Israeli airstrikes, including on Damascus, I call on all local and international actors to avoid any steps that could jeopardize stability and political transition in Syria."
The Syrian Interior Ministry announced an agreement with local factions and religious authorities in Sweida province to cease fire to restore security and stability and reaffirm the Syrian state's commitment to the rights of all its citizens.
The Syrian Defense Ministry also announced the withdrawal of its forces from all province territories, while the situation remains tense following the deaths of hundreds on both sides, according to various sources.
Simultaneously with the clashes, Israel carried out intense airstrikes on Syrian army sites, including the General Staff in Damascus, and military convoys heading to Sweida.
