The Nuremberg Zoo in Germany has sparked widespread controversy after it killed 12 healthy baboons, citing what it described as "space constraints".
This decision has faced sharp criticism from animal rights activists, and the zoo director has received death threats following this controversial step.
The director of the zoo in Bavaria explained that the zoo may have to kill a number of crowned lemurs, lemurs, and gorillas in the near future for the same reasons.
He added that the execution of gorillas has not been seriously considered yet, but he pointed out the difficulty of making such a decision "for emotional reasons" even though it may be inconsistent professionally.
