A correspondent for Al-Watan newspaper in Damascus reported a powerful explosion caused by a gas cylinder blast inside a food store in the Victoria Bridge area, one of the most vibrant areas in the capital.
The explosion resulted in several citizens being injured to varying degrees, who were quickly transported to the hospital for necessary medical treatment.
Immediately after the incident, Damascus Fire Brigade vehicles headed to the scene to extinguish the fire and secure the site completely, while the authorities started an investigation to determine the exact causes of the incident, amid expectations that the reason was a gas leak in the kitchen.
The vicinity of Victoria Bridge is experiencing traffic congestion due to the incident, and the relevant authorities have urged citizens to be cautious and stay away from the site until the repair work is completed and the damages resulting from the explosion are removed.
