From Syria to Gaza.. No to targeting journalists and killing the truth

Several Syrian governorates witnessed today solidarity stands organized by journalists and media professionals, to express their support for their colleagues in Gaza and to condemn the ongoing Israeli violations against them, the latest of which was the targeting of the Al Jazeera crew and other journalists early this morning, resulting in the martyrdom of several of them.

The stands held in Damascus, Aleppo, Hama, Latakia, Idlib, and Daraa carried banners calling for the protection of journalists and criminalizing assaults against them, affirming that free speech is not a crime.

The participants also expressed their solidarity with the people of Gaza who have been facing a continuous war since October 7, 2023, alongside the suffocating siege that exacerbates their daily suffering.

Syrian journalists emphasized the pivotal role of media in revealing the truths and conveying the suffering of civilians, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities and stop the systematic targeting of journalists and innocents in Gaza.
